I had purchased my current MacBook Pro on 13th April 2011. My primary & only computer. I use it daily for rigorous web development work & entertainment. Everything I have is because of this machine. It is still going strong.
Specs: 13-inch, Early 2011, 2.3GHz Intel Core i5 processor, upgraded to 8×2 1600 FSB DDR3 RAM, 320GB SATA HDD.
Issues: One single green vertical line on left side of screen, some grey smudge looking spots on one area of the screen, DVD player not working, card reader not working, internal audio is not good, color coating gone off from 8 keys, on its 2nd battery, on its 3rd power adapter.
So if your question is how long a Apple laptop will last, the answer is atleast 7 years. I am not even married that long!
See that? Exactly!
So I sold my 1 TB Western Digital My Passport USB 2 external hard disk for dirt cheap to a student who came with 3 sketchy looking friends to pick it up.
Then I bought a 128 GB SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3 flash drive. The thing is so tiny its almost invisible.
Now it is connected to one of the USB ports of my MacBook Pro for ever.
And Time Machine is taking regular backups to it automatically every few minutes. Backup A game!
So Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages project is gaining momentum. If you are using this AMP plugin made by Automattic on your WordPress site, it comes with a standard design for all the post types.
But if you are not satisfied with the layout & need to customize your AMP page design to make it stand out from the rest then here is how you can do that.
This is the relevant documentation for the above plugin, keep it handy, the customization page has code snippets you can use to insert elements in common header & footer.
To create a completely customized header, footer, single page or post etc:
- Navigate to your site’s “wp-content > plugins > amp > templates” folder.
- Here you will find the base templates that the plugin uses. Copy the template you wish to modify.
- Create a folder named ‘amp’ inside your currently active theme folder, put this template there.
- It will override the plugin’s template file. Now customize this file.
Adding custom fonts
You can add custom fonts from Google Fonts & more, font icons such as FontAwesome to your AMP pages in the <head> section by adding following code in the theme’s functions.php:
Adding custom CSS
You can add custom, internal CSS to the <head> section of a AMP page, but it is better to keep all those CSS rules in a CSS file inside the theme folder & then include that file’s contents in the <head> using the PHP include() function inside functions.php as follows:
By giving a flying fuck about:
- Social media
- Credit card points
- Fair weather friends
- Delete social media profiles & apps from mobile
- Put mobile in silent or flight mode before sleeping
Right bedsheets also help.
If you invest in PPF then I suggest you max it out to 1.5lakhs. Its a safe way of ‘saving’ if not ‘investment’ in a world full of uncertainty. Even if you have other modes of investment to show towards Form 80C deductions, still do it because of the good rate of interest & zero tax on the whole amount.
And deposit the complete amount in one instalment in the beginning of a financial year between 1st to 5th April, that way you earn interest for the whole year, maximize your return.
Even though still at a beginner level, I’ve slowly started gaining some confidence working with GitHub, SSH & PHPMyAdmin to setup WordPress dev sites, manage local > dev > live site environments using GitHub, import/exporting database, altering things in database tables, moving stuff around with SSH.
Transitioning from the role of just a frontend developer to take more responsibility of the overall development life cycle.
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ImageKit.RecentPictureService/Data/Library/Images/Recent Pictures/ is where Skype stores your previously uploaded photos in this version of MacOS. It changes all the time so might not hold true for future OS updates.
Quit Skype, delete photos that you don’t want anymore, clean from trash, restart your Mac.
If you open Skype before cleaning trash or restarting then they will be copied again.
Right now we are staying in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from last week of January till last week of February. Trying local food, visiting places. Great place to be.
So I moved my Private Limited company’s Current Account from one branch of HDFC bank to another, within the same city. This was my own experience so yours will vary depending upon many factors.
Step 1: I applied & filled a form, with an application on company letterhead for account shifting at the desired new branch in 1st week of December 2017. I was told next an email will be sent to old branch, they will approve the transfer & then after only a few days the process will be complete.
Step 2: More than 2 weeks went by without any updates, I was told old branch has not approved the transfer yet so I had to personally call & speak with manager of old branch & request him to approve the account transfer.
Step 3: Got word that old branch has approved the transfer, now its a matter of just a few more days.
Step 4: 3 more weeks went by, now we are in 1st week of January 2018 without any progress, account is still with old branch. New branch staff said delay is due to annual closing & I’m asked to wait a few more days.
Step 5: In the 2nd week of January 2018 I emailed HDFC Customer Care, they took my complaint & asked for 5 days of time to revert back/resolve the case.
Step 6: Received call from new branch staff after 2 days of lodging the complaint, they asked me for my Debit Card number that is linked to the Current Account as it needs to be transferred to new branch as well. And I was told it will be done in next 2/3 days.
Step 7: On the 3rd day which is the last day of 5-day time asked by HDFC Bank Customer Care, I received call & email from new branch staff informing me that my Current Account has been transferred. It was the end of 3rd week of January 2018.
This was supposed to be an automatic process after the customer applied with form & required documents, but as with most things here I had to personally take responsibility & intervene, call, request various people from both the branches to get this done after spending 7 weeks of time.
